Wondering - The High Cost of Healthy Food

The only post good ol' Google can find on this quote for me, is a tweet attributed to chi-chi rodriguez @HennyNHandcuffs.  I have my own thoughts about this statement and I would love to discuss it with all of you.  Please comment, letting me know your thoughts about the accuracy of this statement and your opinions about *why* it is/isn't accurate.  Put on your critical thinking caps.  I'll tell you what I think and why next time.

I've often thought the same thing when we're eating out at restaurants. Thankfully, healthy food at home doesn't have to be more expensive than junk food options.

It is a travesty that we can buy junk so much cheaper, but I wonder if supply and demand don't get us in trouble!

It's crazy isn't it? Trying to think like a restaurant owner and not a consumer, I wonder if the ingredients for salad aren't a bit more expensive (but not enough to justify that price) because they need to be ordered in smaller quantities for freshness. Burgers and their accompaniments, buns, condiments, etc. can be ordered in larger quantities for cost savings and are more easily stored. Whatever the given reason, there should not be such a disparity. I can buy salad fixings from the grocery much less expensively than I can burger fixings.
