Mal dozing off

Happy Birthday Mal!

Yesterday was Mal's birthday. He's FOUR! And I can tell already today, that he stayed up way too late last night.

I found the idea for this cake on The Omnomicon. I didn't make the diet version of the cake, nor did I double it. I just made a yellow cake according to package directions, divided the batter into six bowls and colored it. Using yellow instead of white did not dull down the colors at all.

Happy birthday Monkey! Happy birthday Monkey's Daddy!

MOPPETS gifts

At the larger MOPS I attend, each small group takes turns making/buying an appreciation gift for the MOPPETS workers (the childcare providers). I just got my new scor-pal and was eager to make some boxes and try it out. I cut and scored 18 boxes (AND assembled seven of them!) in about an hour. We then filled each box with gum, spring tic tacs, homemade cookies and a tiny, adorable egg decoration. Then we wrapped them in cellophane.

Each box is about 2.75" square and 3" tall. I used SU's rich regals cardstock and the SAB paper. The sentiments are Max Lucado stickers from Walmart, mounted on WW cardstock and popped up on dimensionals.

Oh Deer!

Yeah, they're back again. And you can see the damage they did last time in the lower right corner.

Bouncing "Baby" Boys

There is something about being thrown around that little boys just love!

The Coolest Dad Ever?

M entertained the littles the other night with juggling, yo-yo tricks and balloons. They were so excited. Apparently, daddy is the coolest dad ever. Xavier got an orange balloon dog, Mal got a green balloon sword and even Cassie got a balloon flower for her desk at work. She said she is going to treat it like a real flower just to mess with her coworkers. She's my kind of girl. :D

Some new videos are up on YouTube.
Here is Xav eating cheerios with an odd utensil.
This is Xav doing the arm "wave".
And M trying to get Xav to do it again with Mal flopping around in the background.

Friday Fill-Ins

And...here we go!

1. When I look to the left, I see trees, trees and more trees.

2.Probably the kitchen is the room that has the best view in my home.

3. Let it work itself out.

4. Dirty deeds done dirt cheap!

5. _____ is a responsibility that all qualified citizens must share. I can't think of one that all qualified citizens must share. There are plenty of responsibilities though, like voting and personal responsibility and self control...

6. If you have any extra feel free to hoard it. (I bet you thought I was gonna say "share". HA HA!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to picking up some GS cookies, tomorrow my plans include spending some quality time with M and Sunday, I want to finish a papercraft project!

More talky-talky

I always tell funny things that Mal says or give examples of how his speech is improving. I thought I'd give an update on Xavier. He is speaking pretty well for a just-turned-two year old boy. He refuses to call Mal by name though. His name is "Boy". I don't know why. Brother I could understand, but Boy not so much. He uses lots of word pairings to convey thoughts. If he wants to say something more sophisticated than "ball big", he uses several mini-sentences. For instance, if he wants to tell you daddy went in the house, he would say, "Daddy house. Daddy stairs. Daddy go." Everything is "lellow". If he tries to guess a color and he doesn't say lellow, he says, "pink, blue, green" with the hope that one of those guesses is correct.

It has been a lot of fun with the boys watching them grow and change. Xav is now only about 5 pounds less than Mal. Of course, he eats all the time. :D

And...here we go!

1. Mailing surprises was my last random act of kindness.

2. Another place I'll never see.

3. Of late, a winner in matters of the heart.

4. Coffee, tea or... Pepsi, please.

5. A convergence of separate paths.

6. Our relationship reminds me that there is hope.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to sleep, tomorrow my plans include finalizing my SU order and Sunday, I want to get to church!

And Now, Here's Something You'll Really Like...

He was showing off for the boys. Yes, he is fine. Yes, with my help he was able to flip it back over. No, he is still in the doghouse.

A Gift For You and Pay it Forward

Please read to the end of this post before leaving a comment.

The first 5 people to respond to this post will get something, of my choice, made by me, FOR YOU!

This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:

- What I create will be just for you.
- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!
- You will receive your item before the end of the year (or sooner).
- I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.
- You will have no clue what the item is going to be. It could be a story or a CD.
It could be a piece of handmade jewelry. I may draw, paint, collage or knit or stamp something. I might bake you something and mail it to you. I may grow you a plant. Who knows? Not you, that's for sure!

-->The catch?!
Oh, the catch is that in order to receive a gift, you have to re-post this and make and send out five surprises of your own, so if you aren't gonna follow through and make something for five others, don't sign up to get something from me. You can post this on Facebook, MySpace, your blog, send it out to everyone in your email list, offer it to coworkers, whatever you need to do. You have to pay it forward.
